Germany: Eine Entdeckungsreise !

No one knows
what it is that he can do till he tries
(Publilius Syrus)

In August 1st 2001 i leave from Caracas, and 20 hours later, arrived to Dresden (East Germany) to study the language in the Goethe Institute.

For two months i lived in the north side of the city, in Hellerau, receiving the economical support of the DAAD; the organization issues were in charge from the Goethe Institute. It was excellent.

I joined a class with several people from India, Syria, Mexico, Norway, Egypt, Poland, Spain and Japan. Some of my classmates are on the picture: Börre, Anja, Felicitas (our second teacher), Lars, Maria, Hina, Ayman, me and Chandra.

One day after class (and after the lunch also), we saw on the TV-room in this school, the Sep.11 attacks in NY and Washington.

I will never forget the Tv-room full of people, screaming and crying...

Through the classroom's window was possible to see everyday the most near church, a Catholic one: St.Franziskus Xavier (photo), in fact, a big chappel beside the nice building which after the WW II was changed into a Library or something like that.

During this time (August / September 2001) we visit several places as Berlin, Leipzig, Goerlitz, and even, Prag....

In the the next picture i am with Maria (from Spain) and Wataru (from Japan) near the statue of Faustus & the Devil, based in one famous literature work from Wolfang Goethe. The statue is placed in the entrance of the most recognized pub of Leipzig , where the history happens.
